Card 3: Canine Bartender

¡Observen! ¡Hemos llegado a la última tarjeta navideña! Hecha para mi gran amigo Christian (apodado "Chris" por los que bien lo aprecian), buscando rendir homenaje a su pasado de bartender en un restaurante-bar de gran categoría llamado "Antica" y a un perro sin pelo peruano que tuvo alguna vez, según me cuenta.

¿A que no se le ve simpático? Nunca (sí, ya saben la historia) he dibujado a un perro de esta raza antes y dada mi poca habilidad para dibujar las mezclas entre rasgos humanos y animales, volví a recurrir a una imagen de referencia, provista por el siempre diligente servicio de búsqueda del DA. En este caso, este excelente dibujo me sirvió muchísimo para entender la forma y estructura del cráneo, aunque tuve que ensayar muchas veces hasta poder cambiar su expresión a una amena y amigable.

Este dibujo fue, de los tres, el que más dolores de cabeza me causó: las manos, que no salieron bien del todo, fueron EXTRAORDINARIAMENTE complicadas de dibujar. Al final, con la presión del tiempo y la frustración, decidí "salir por la tangente" y cubrir su mano derecha con un trapo... ¡compréndanme!

En este caso, envié la tarjeta por correo regular (ESPERO que le llegue. Sino... ¡sentirán mi furia!)

(Third and last drawing in this series...)

Lo and behold! This' the last Christmas card I made this year! Drawn for my good pal Christian (nicknamed "Chris" by those who love 'im) as a special homage to both his former position as bartender in a high-end restaurant called "Antica" and to a peruvian hairless dog he told me he used to own some time ago.

Doesn't he look nice? Having never drawn (yeah yeah, same verse as before!) this dog breed before and given my scarce ability to properly fuse both human and animal traits into a single critter, I had to recurr - yet again - to a reference picture (provided by DA's ever efficient Search Engine). In this case, this outstanding drawing was of great help to understand the shape and the structure of the dog's skull, even if it took me a while of trial and error to finally switch his expression into something more friendly and pleasant.

This pic was definitely, out of the three, the most troublesome: the hands, which didn't turn out all that great, were EXTRAORDINARILY hard to draw. In the end, with the time pressure and frustration, I decided to "go off on a tangent" and cover his right hand with a rag... cut me some slack!

In this case, I sent the card by snail mail (I HOPE it arrives safely. Otherwise... they shall taste my wrath!)
